Los Angeles County Community and Senior Services has partnered with the Center of Employment Opportunities (CEO), to bring their Reentry Transitional Employment to Los Angeles County. This project will provide young adults leaving the Probation system transitional employment that will serve as a bridge between Probation camp and entry-level employment along a career path. Youth with no prior work experience will be placed onto work crews that perform a benefit to the community where they will earn money to support their transition from camp, as well as soft skills such as timeliness, navigating transportation, following directions, and working cooperatively with co-workers. These youth will also receive help developing a career plan, assistance in enrollment into advanced training related to their career path, and help obtaining more permanent entry-level employment along their career path.
Program Manager, Maritza Dubie-Uribe spoke to a group of Probation youth on Wednesday, November 2, 2016, about this program designed to benefit their transition. In its pilot phase, this program will serve at least 50 young adults in Los Angeles County’s Probation system.
