Career Exploration for Youth@Work Kids
Last week the County and City of Los Angeles gave youth from Boys and Girls Clubs a behind the scenes look at how local government works. Youth spent the day meeting with leaders and learning about career opportunities in the public sector.
The day was the beginning of a new, multi-year partnership between our Youth@Work Program, the L.A. County Alliance for Boys and Girls Clubs, and public and private sector employers, to provide underprivileged youth ages 14-18 with intensive career exploration, mentorship and paid work experience. Next month youth will visit Tesla and ABC7 and have the opportunity to learn about the different career opportunities available in their respective industries and organizations. Known as The Kollab Pilot Program, this new Initiative seeks to help build communities and economies by investing in underprivileged youth and helping them develop the knowledge and skills to complete in the global economy of the future.
